Measuring our visitors

We use Google Analytics to collect visitor data and analyze traffic on our site and associated content on the Knowsley Health Hub app. This information helps us understand customer interests and helps us improve our website. When you visit our site, the pages that you look at, and a short text file called a cookie, are downloaded to your computer. A cookie is used to store small amounts of information. This information is collected for traffic analysis only. The cookie does not contain personal details. Depending on the browser that you use, you can set your preferences to block/ refuse cookies, and/ or notify you before they are placed. All of that information is anonymous. This means that we do not know who you are; only that somebody visited our site.

The information we collect from analytics helps us understand what parts of our web site and app are doing well, how people arrive at our site and so on. Like most apps and websites, we use this information to make our products better.

You can learn more about Google Analytics by clicking here or you can opt out of Google Analytics by clicking here.

Facebook, Twitter and other social networks

These services provide social buttons and similar features which we use on our website – such as the “Like” and “Tweet” buttons.

To do so we embed code that they provide and we do not control ourselves. To function their buttons generally know if you’re logged in; for example Facebook use this to say “x of your friends like this”. We do not have any access to that information, nor can we control how those networks use it.

Social networks therefore could know that you’re viewing this website, if you use their services (that isn’t to say they do, but their policies may change). As our website does not request personal information, we imagine that this is not a concern for most users.

If you sign up for a service – Emails

When you sign up for our email service which you have specifically requested (such as newsletters or notifications) we will record specific personal information about you, such as your name and email address. Subscriptions to our emails can be terminated using the ‘Unsubscribe’ links provided in the emails.

We will never provide your personal information or email address to any third parties except where they are specifically employed to help deliver our own services, such as the email list management tool MailChimp.

We will also collect and store information about your use of that service so as to improve our products. For example, which types of emails our users are more likely to open.

You may review and/or request changes to this personally identifiable information held by contacting us at support@KnowsleyHealthHub.co.uk. Subscriptions to our emails can be terminated using the ‘Unsubscribe’ links provided in the emails.

Use of SSL encryption for sensitive data

Hardware stored in secured datacentres with 24/7 security monitoring and DDoS protection

All access to information restricted by password and/or secure key

Whilst we take great care to ensure any confidential information remains protected we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the Internet.

More Information – What is a cookie?

A cookie is a technology for remembering information between webpages.

Because of cookies, your web browser can remember you are logged in, if you have visited a site before (for example so that you do not have to take the same action twice such as accept terms and conditions), or what your personal preferences are (for example if you prefer to see news ordered by date or by country).

In reality, a cookie is a small text file which is stored by the user’s browser. The cookie only contains data, not code, so it can’t contain a virus or spyware. They can only ever store information.

A cookie remembers information about a specific website, for example which pages people are viewing the most. This enables us to build our users a better experience for example by delivering more content similar to that people view the most.
